Last updated: March 2026. This policy describes how SortmyMeal collects, uses, and protects your information. It applies to users in the United Kingdom and is written in line with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
SortmyMeal is the data controller for the personal data we collect through the platform. For questions about this policy or your data, contact us at support@sortmymeal.com.
We collect information you provide when you register (name, email, profile details, and for vendors: listing and business information, and any legal declarations you complete). When you place orders, use enquiries or messaging, or save addresses, we store the data needed to provide the service. We may collect usage and device information to improve the platform and for security. We do not sell your personal data to third parties for marketing.
We use your information to operate the platform, match you with vendors or customers, send relevant notifications, and improve our services. Our lawful bases are: contract (to provide the service you signed up for), legitimate interests (e.g. security, analytics, improving the product), and legal obligation(e.g. retaining order data for tax or regulatory purposes). Where we send marketing, we will rely on your consent and you can withdraw it at any time.
We keep your data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service. After you delete your account, we remove or anonymise your profile and listing data. We may retain order and transaction data in anonymised form for longer where required for legal, tax, or regulatory purposes (e.g. up to 7 years). Compliance-related information provided by vendors may be retained as required by law.
Under UK data protection law you have the right to: access your personal data; rectification of inaccurate data; erasure ("right to be forgotten") in certain circumstances; restrict processing in certain circumstances; data portability (to receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format); object to processing based on legitimate interests or for direct marketing; and withdraw consent where we rely on it. You can exercise these rights by contacting us at support@sortmymeal.com. We will respond within one month. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk if you are unhappy with how we handle your data.
Our systems may process or store data in countries outside the UK. Where we do so, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place (such as UK-approved transfer mechanisms or adequacy decisions). If we change where we store data (for example by moving to an EU/EEA region), we will update this policy accordingly.
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. Access to personal data is limited to those who need it to operate the service.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and, for material changes, we will notify you (e.g. by email or a notice on the platform). Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
